French 1 is going to be interesting this year! Since we are only going to meet in person ONCE during the week, and then a second time virtually on Thursday or Friday, I hope that we will be able to still tell the stories, and get a chance to hear and speak a lot. One benefit is that our classes are very small! So that means you will get many opportunities to speak-- it's almost like being tutored! Since you are home a lot, with your families, I hope that you will include them by teaching them some of what you learn in class. Generally, the first year of a language has a sharp learning curve because you are starting with nothing, and should come out with a lot more than you started with! The hardest thing about French, compared to Spanish, is that the written language does not get pronounced as it is written. So we will start with as little written language as we can manage considering that we are online mostly, until we get a handle on the pronunciation of several common phrases like greetings and descriptions of things.
